In the sunshine state, Lake Nona and Orlando specifically, most of us wear sunglasses, but did you know sun damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause permanent damage to your eyes and vision? The sun’s radiation is the natural form of UV radiation, but it can also be given off artificially from sources like tanning beds and lasers.

Unprotected exposure to excessive amounts of UV radiation over short periods of time can lead to photokeratitis, or sunburn to the eye. Red and gritty feeling eyes, extreme sensitivity to light and excessive tearing are symptoms of this, and are typically temporary and rarely causes permanent damage to the eyes. MORE
